Jade Pavilion

Jade Pavilion

Week 03

By Kyle (design & code) · Released

Jade Pavilion is mahjong solitaire painted in ink wash on rice paper. Pick two matching free tiles to clear them until the board is empty. Boards grow as you travel, from a small terrace of 36 tiles to late spreads of over a hundred. Every fifth board the scene and the song change, bamboo forest to koi pond to temple to harvest fields to a lantern festival at night. Every deal can be finished, and a small stock of shuffles covers the corners you trap yourself in.

How to play

  • Tap two matching free tiles to clear the pair.
  • A tile is free when nothing rests on top and its left or right side is open.
  • Clear every tile to finish the board.
  • Stuck? Spend a shuffle to re-scatter what remains.

Desktop: Click a free tile, then click its match. Arrow keys move the jade cursor and Enter or Space selects. R shuffles the remaining tiles. Escape pauses. · Mobile: Tap a free tile, then tap its match. Tap the shuffle seal when nothing matches. The corner seal pauses.

Why we built this

We taught the dealer to build each board backward from its own solution, so no deal can strand you. A robot playtester cleared all one hundred boards with human pacing before we called them done. The tiles started with placeholder beeps and click like wood now.

FAQ

  • Is Jade Pavilion free to play?

Yes. It runs free in your browser with no download or signup.

  • How do I play Jade Pavilion on my phone?

Open it in your phone browser and hold it upright. Tiles are sized for thumbs, and sound starts after your first tap.

  • Can every board be finished?

Yes. Each deal is a finished game played in reverse, so a path to an empty board always exists when you start.

  • What happens when no moves are left?

The shuffle button re-scatters the remaining tiles into a board that can still be cleared. If no shuffles remain, the level ends and you can retry.
